Treehouse NDSM is an arts incubator located on the area of the formerNDSM shipyard, on the bank of the IJ River in Amsterdam Noord. Treehouse NDSM offers more than 100 studio spaces for creatives of all disciplines, a 300m2 exhibition and performance hall, a work hall, common meeting spaces, a courtyard, and terrace. The complex is a small village built over two floors using recycled ship containers and construction cabins. 

Apart from renting out ateliers, we also have a programme of artistic and cultural activities during the entire year, which are organised byTreehouse NDSM or the residents themselves. Part of our programme are four group art exhibitions per year, a monthly concert series called ‘Live At OurPlace’, workshops of all kinds, crafts markets and much more!

Job description

Working directly with the Treehouse NDSM team, the Events Floor Manager is responsible for hosting the artistic events developed by the residents and taking place at Treehouse NDSM. These events are usually concerts, theatre plays, performances, debates, or exhibitions.

Responsibilities

- Oversee the set-up, service, and breakdown of each event in accordance with the event roadmap

- Support the technician, artists and bartender in the set-up, service, and break down of the event

- Oversee the organisation, cleanliness, and service standards as set byTreehouse NDSM

- Host the audience and manage the ticket sales at the entrance

- Ensure all guests receive excellent service and hospitality throughout the event 

- Ensure prohibited items do not enter the venue

- Preventing and defusing potential conflict

- Ensure that everyone knows the emergency procedures and keep emergency routes clear

- Manage guest arrival and ensure safe departure of all guests and staff 

- Report all successes, issues, or areas of improvement to the director

- Create a template roadmap that can be used for each event, as well as the organisation of the equipment used for each event.

Your Profile

- You have experience in hospitality and cultural organisations

- You have flexible schedule and can assist our events needs

- You have effective communication de-escalation and management skills

- You have the ability to solve problems and manage service in a timely manner 

- You have attention to detail

- You have the ability to function in a fast-paced and densely populated environment

- You are comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds and demographics

- You have emotional intelligence

- You are self-motivated

- An EHBO diploma is required and a SVH diploma is a plus
